LEGO Time

Last year Pastor Mike and 6 volunteers brought LEGO Time to Camp J.O.Y., a summer camp for children Kindergarten-4th grade held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Buffalo (26 Brunswick Blvd). We had a great time interacting with the children and playing with LEGO!

We have been asked to come again this year!

Camp J.O.Y. is July 6-August 14, 2026.

LEGO Time is once a week on Thursdays from 9:30-11:30am.
July 9, 16, 23, 30, August 6, 13

What do we do at LEGO Time?

• Children are divided into 3 groups – Kindergarten, 1-2 Grade and 3-4 Grade. (2 volunteers for each group)
• Use a pre-planned activity that includes a Bible Story and an activity using LEGO.
• LEGO activities are based more on creative play time than on technical building skills. There is usually a challenge or goal they are trying to create like an activity done with bricks or a scene to tell a story. 
• Interact with the children as they create things with LEGO (and maintain order)
• Encourage the children and get to know them. Foster a positive spirit.
• NO LEGO experience is necessary. We are encouraging creativity not technical skill. 

We need 6 adult volunteers for each Thursday. You can volunteer for one or more of the dates – don’t have to commit to all 6 sessions. Volunteers need to be 18 years old and older, enjoy spending time with children, and are willing to “play with toys!”

How to help if you can’t volunteer?

• Financial Donation – we would like to purchase a small LEGO set for each child and would like to raise $500 to help with purchasing the sets. Any amount is appreciated. See below for more information.
• Donate used LEGO bricks – If you have LEGO taking up storage and collecting dust we would gladly take them and put them to good use.
• Pray that we are able to cover all 6 sessions with volunteers and that we will have a good time with the children sharing the love of Jesus!
